WatStory Travel Story Competition 2016

WatStory’s inaugural travel story contest is here. Tell us about your travels – when you were spell bound, when you were happy, when you got scared, when you had the real Adrenalin rush, when you felt connected with the world and when the strangers became friends.
Every travel story inspires someone else to leave their comfort zone and venture out, so tell us your travel stories.
This contest is for non-fiction category and real, original stories only, no plagiarism please. Submitted entries should not have been submitted elsewhere or published anywhere before including blogs or online media.
Contest Start Date: 18th April 2016
Contest End Date: 27th May 2016* (Revised from 18 May)
Results Declaration: 18th June 2016
1st : Rs. 5000 (~75 US$) or equivalent in your currency
2nd : Rs. 3000 (~45 US$) or equivalent in your currency
3rd : Rs. 2000 (~30 US$) or equivalent in your currency
1. Who can participate in this contest?
Contest is open to everyone worldwide over the age of 13. So, if you have an interesting travel story to share, write on.
2. What language can the story be in?
The contest entries can only be in English. We will organize Bengali and Hindi language competitions in near future.
3. How can I participate in the contest?
Login to your account or register and create a new account on WatStory. Publish a travel story during the contest period and add the story to the publication WatStory Traveller by clicking on the “Add Story” button on the publication top bar and clicking on the story you want to submit to the contest in the drop down menu. Then get your friends to like your story and make it popular. Don’t forget to tag your story with the locations you talk about e.g. HimachalPradesh. Tagging makes the story easier to discover.
4. How will the winning entries be decided?
The WatStory team will select the best entry out of the most popular submissions during the contest period from 18 April to 27 May. So make sure you get your friends to like your submitted entry and spread your stories widely across social networks to make them as popular as possible. WatStory’s decision will be final and binding in all regards.
5. How can my friends like my entry?
You friends will have to create an account and login to like your story. They can like your story by clicking on the heart button shown below. Clicking on it increases the like count on story by 1.
6. How will I know I have won?
We will declare the results on the WatStory site and also on our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. We will also contact you on your registered email address on WatStory, so make sure it is updated in your Account Settings. We will also need your email address to know your bank account or PayPal details to send you the prize money, if you win.
7. How will you send me the prize money?
If you win, we will transfer the money to your bank account if you are based out of India. If you don’t have a bank account we will be happy to send you Amazon.In vouchers equal to the prize money instead. If you are based out of India, we will PayPal the money to your PayPal account. We will not be able to send you money in any other way. The net amount you get will depend on the currency exchange rate and will be less the PayPal fees incurred to send you the prize money.
8. What about my content copyright?
You retain copyright of your work. We get rights to showcase your story on our website, our social media pages or elsewhere in order to market the WatStory platform, this contest and your stories. We will not monetize your content in any way without explicit permission from you. You are free to use your content as you please once the contest results are declared.
9. Can I submit more than one entry?
You are free to submit as many entries as you like to increase your chances of winning. But, you will win only one prize.
